WORCESTER – Lynne I. (Cohen) Horne, age 76 of Worcester, MA passed away on February 6 after a battle with aggressive vascular dementia. She was lovingly cared for in her last months by her fiercely dedicated husband, Billy, and the staff at the Odd Fellows Home of Worcester.
Lynne was born May 4, 1945 to the late Lillian (Korenblum) and Alfred “Bubbles” Cohen. She leaves behind four very special loves of her life: husband of 52 years, William “Billy” Horne, her son Jeffrey Horne (Karen), and her grandchildren Jacob and Samantha Horne. She is also survived by her brother Gary Cohen (Yvonne), and sisters Bonnie Cooper (Alan), Nan Sobel (Howard) and Beth Parker. Other cherished family members are Suzanne Hirsch, Ronnie Parker, Marc Cohen and Lisa Cohen, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who she held dear.
Lynne was born and raised in Worcester and chose to work and raise her family in the same city. She and Billy were inseparable and most enjoyed time at the beach (Ogunquit, Maine was a favorite and frequently visited spot), trips to see the New York family and vacations in Florida. At her best, no one could outlast Lynne on a shopping trip, something she enjoyed with gusto and would do with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Lynne’s true joy was in the care she provided to her grandchildren and being actively involved in their lives every day. Jacob and Samantha could count on Nana to be their biggest fan at everything they did – dance recitals, school concerts, and most recently Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah where she attended virtually and looked on with pride as she said, “that’s my boy!”
Due to an abundance of caution with Covid, Lynne’s family will be having a private funeral. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Donations can be made in Lynne’s name to the Dementia Society of America (
