WEST BOYLSTON/AUBURN - Lyle "Joe" D. Harrington, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, after a short illness. Born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, Joe was the son of the late Dubrelle M. and Charlotte T. (Ayrton) Harrington and lived the last 18 years in West Boylston.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 46 years, Jane A. (Baldarelli) Harrington; two daughters, Kimberly J. Connor and her husband, Brendon and Lynne M. Morrow and her husband, Tim all of Holden; a brother, James Harrington and his wife, Kim of Omaha, NB; four grandchildren, Isobel and Madelyn Connor and Dean and Frank Morrow; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces; and many cherished friends. He is predeceased by his sister, Sandra Jewell and brother, Richard Harrington.
Joe graduated from Auburn High School in 1966 and worked as a land surveyor for Cullinan Engineering in Auburn. He spent the following 35-plus years working as a distribution technician for Eversource, formerly known as NSTAR Gas Company. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the Massachusetts National Guard.
Joe enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his family and friends which also included trips to Thompson Speedway.
He found solace in the simple act of planting and tending to his flowers. For Joe, gardening was not a chore but a labor of love, and the beauty he cultivated will continue to flourish in our memories.
One of Joe's greatest pleasures was going on his annual family vacation to York Beach in Maine. He relished the opportunity to relax and unwind with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, in a place that held a special place in his heart from childhood.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who were fortunate to cross his path.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe's family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, at Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling.
