HOLDEN – Jacqueline L. Welles, 47, of Shrewsbury Street, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 10 years, Jeffrey W. Voss; two daughters, Caroline C. A. Voss and Korey R. Caron both of Holden; two brothers, Allen Welles and his wife Michele of Windham, Connecticut and Michael D. Welles and his wife Mickey of Willimantic, Connecticut; three sisters, Peggy A. Blake and her husband Curt of Fripp Island, South Carolina, Cathy Welles-Morisky and her husband Dick of Lafayette, California and Diane E. Welles of Grand Canyon, Arizona; many nephews and nieces and her beloved Golden Puppy “Buddy”.
She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Arthur C. and Adele M. (Costa) Welles. She grew up in Centerville on Cape Cod and has lived in Holden for 10 years. She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelors Degree in Science. She also received advanced degrees from Boston College and Northeastern University.
Jacqueline was a scientist for Abbott Laboratories in Worcester and for Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. With her research in arthritis, she improved the well being of thousands of patients. She was an avid New York Yankee’s fan, enjoyed genealogy and planned many of her family reunions on the beach.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, May 18th, starting at 1 p.m. followed by a celebration of Jacqueline’s life at 2 p.m. in the family home, 257 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors without Borders, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030; or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
