Lucien R. Chamberlain

September 14, 1926 — April 30, 2012

WORCESTER – Lucien R. Chamberlain, 85, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of advanced stages of Parkinson Disease.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Annie L. (Campbell) Chamberlain; a son, David S. Chamberlain and his wife Maryellen of Charlton; four daughters, Judy M. Chamberlain of Princeton, LuAnn Gallant and her husband Samuel of Putnam, CT, Carol L. Klauzinski of Paxton and Karen B. Hendrie of Holden; four brothers, Roger, Armand, Delano and Bernard Chamberlain and their wife’s all of Maine; seven grandchildren, John, Mia, Christopher, Alyssa, Haley, Kyle and Kara; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. A son-in-law, Henry G. Klauzinski, predeceased him.

Lucien was born in Turner, Maine, the son of David and Mary (Albert) Chamberlain and had lived in Maine before moving to Worcester in 1952. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with Company K 161st Infantry. He was an MP during the occupation of Japan responsible for protecting U.S. Army personnel in the towns of Seto and Koromo on Honshu, Japan. Following his honorable discharge from the army he joined the National Guard of Maine where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. He worked at Paul Revere Insurance Company in the building mechanics department for many years retiring in 1985. Previously, he worked at American Supply in Worcester. Lucien enjoyed woodworking, reading and loved to spend time at home with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral services for Lucien will be held on Friday, May 4, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a committal service at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alternative Unlimited/Worcester Connection, 50 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA 01588.
