HOLDEN – Emma L. (Schieve) Beres Blozis, 93, formerly of Brookfield, Illinois, died peacefully under the loving care of her family and the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Emma was born and raised in Revillo, South Dakota, the daughter of Gustav and Leocade (Friedrich) Schieve.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Melody Rose and her husband David of Holden; two sons, Robert Beres and his wife Pat of Brooksville, Florida and Dr. William Schieve of Ft. Bragg, California; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Erwin Schieve; three grandchildren, Alana and Alex Rose, and Taj Schieve; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her second husband, Matthew Beres; eight brothers and sisters, Gustav, Leona, Elmer, Ethel, Alfred, Walter, Edwin, and Arthur.
In her youth, Emma worked on her family's farm in South Dakota; and during World War II, she worked as an assembler in a manufacturing plant building engines for warplanes. She later worked at a Baskin and Robbins in Illinois. She attended the Holden Senior Center and enjoyed embroidery, arts and crafts. Emma's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff on the 3rd floor at the Jewish Healthcare Center for their love, care, and professionalism.
A funeral service for Emma will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 4th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
