STERLING – Michael L. Petit, 68, of Justice Hill Road, died of lung cancer in his home on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
Mike will be missed by his family: Judi, his wife of 44 years; daughters, Susan and Lauren; grandchildren Emily Grace, Benjamin, Milo and Clara; his aunt Shirley Carroll; two brothers, Richard and Eugene; as well as many other friends, family and neighbors.
Mike was an avid appreciator of nature, and especially good friend to the birds. He is fondly remembered by friends and family for his love of music, his vast collection of tools and tractors, his storytelling skills, his quick smile, his love of a good time, a great bite to eat and a good political debate, and his joy in spending time with his grandchildren.
Mike was a small business owner and has enjoyed retirement for many years; traveling, gardening, and volunteering with Audubon and the Red Cross. He was a craftsman and tinkerer and enjoyed working on projects of all sorts. Mike's many interests, wealth of knowledge and generosity of spirit will inspire many fond memories for family and friends to cherish.
Family and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road(Rte. 12), Sterling. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be planned.
