WEST BOYLSTON – E. Louise (Ridley) Flagg, 94, formerly of Worcester, died peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at her daughter's home.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alan Flagg. She leaves her daughter, Karen L. Tweedly and her husband Charles of Millbury; four grandchildren, Michael C. Tweedly, James Dion and his wife Stella, Timothy Dion and his wife Micchi, and Kim Dion; three step-children, Claire Burns and her husband Dick, Brad Flagg, Dorothy Burns and her husband Gary; seven step-grandchildren, Sharon Rodman, Jacqueline Lambert, Rick Burns, Michelle Walker, Michael Flagg, Todd Boothe and Tracy Labbe; 15 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her daughter, Judith A. Cockrell, died in 2002. Her first husband, Alvin Magowan, a brother, Percival Ridley and a sister, Pauline Praskiewicz, predeceased her.
Mrs. Flagg was born in and raised in Worcester, a daughter of James E. and Ellen G. (Ginn) Ridley and lived 20 years in West Boylston. She was a graduate of North High School and attended the Boston Children's Nursing School. For over 20 years, she worked for Norton Company in Worcester, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Greendale People's Church and an active member of the West Boylston Senior Center. She enjoyed golfing, painting and furniture restoration.
A memorial service for Mrs. Flagg will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 21st, in the Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. Burial will be private in Maple Grove Cemetery, Prospect, Maine. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
