HOLDEN/PAXTON – Louise H. (Hagman) Howatt, 90, died peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2014, under the loving care of her family and the staff at Tatnuck Park in Worcester. Louise was born in Winthrop in 1923, the daughter of Charles A. Hagman and Dawn Thorndike Gleason Hagman. She was raised and educated in Winthrop and graduated from Worcester State College with a degree in history.
In 1962 Louise moved with her husband and family to Holden where the family resided for 42 years before moving to Paxton in 2003. She was an active member of her community her entire life. She was a secretary to the Planning Board for the Town of Holden, before becoming a member of the Board. For several years she worked with her church youth group.
Louise was an accomplished golfer and competed in golf matches with the Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts for many years. She continued to enjoy playing tennis and golf well into her senior years. After moving to Paxton she became an active member of the Paxton Senior Center. Louise accompanied by her husband, George, could be found walking the Wachusett Greenways well into her 80’s.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, George (Bud) F. Howatt, Jr. of Worcester; their children, Nancy Wilson and her husband, Robert of Amherst, NH, Carol D.
