HOLDEN – Loretta M. (Saunders) Williams, 81, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Blair House in Worcester on Sunday, December 25, 2011. Her husband of 53 years, William A. Williams, Sr., died in 2010.
Loretta was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Harold E. and Margaret R. (Maciejka) Saunders. After attending Commerce High School, she went to work at Heald Machine Company in Worcester where she met her husband, Bill. They married on June 15, 1957, and moved to Holden where they raised their four children. Loretta was a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Worcester where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She loved working with children and was a volunteer at Dawson School in Holden and the YWCA. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and all types of crafts.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, William A. Williams, Jr. and his wife Ann of Oxford and Gary W. Williams of Holden; her daughters, Cynthia A. Williams of Worcester and Sandra L. Domeij and her husband Mark of Westborough; a sister, Virginia James of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her first husband, Harold Krizik, died in 1949. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Saunders and a sister, Marion Potenti.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30, in Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 921 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 921 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
