HOLDEN – Gerald L. Morse, 64, of Putnam Lane, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, surrounded by his loving family after an illness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary L. (Taylor) Morse; two daughters, Tammy L. Foy and her husband Glenn of Holden and Mindy M. MacAlister and her husband Brandon of Pomfret, CT; three brothers, Michael Morse of Warwick, RI, James Morse of Worcester and Daniel Morse of Oxford; two sisters, Amy Roy of Port Richey, FL and Judy Gonyea; five grandchildren, Brandon and Jamie Foy, Katelyn, Noah and Allison MacAlister; and many nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of William P. and Viola (Leno) Morse and lived in Holden for 32 years. He graduated from Commerce High School.
Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the 2nd Armored Division while assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry while in Vietnam. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars and the Army Commendation Medal. He worked 20 years for Wonder Bread Company in Natick. He more recently worked for Demetri Delights in Grafton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 3rd in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
