Lisa R. (Roessler) Roy

December 19, 1959 — August 15, 2015

STERLING-Lisa (Beth) Roessler Roy, 55, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lisa’s family moved to Massachusetts and settled in Ashland where Lisa attended local schools. They relocated to New Jersey where Lisa graduated from Mountain Lakes High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and her Masters degree in Speech Pathology from Kean University, Union, NJ. She was a member of the First Church in Sterling for twenty years where she participated in many church activities. Lisa loved photography and creating scrapbooks for her family and she enjoyed collecting baskets and accessories as a Longaberger sales associated for many years. She had created many beautiful quilts over the years as well. Lisa enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature, whether hiking or visiting the shores of Cape Cod, especially the beaches of Eastham. She was a dedicated mother, daughter and sister as well as a special friend to many.

Lisa will be forever missed by her two daughters, Elizabeth J. Roy and Madeline “Maddie” J. Roy, both of Sterling; her former husband, Christopher A. Roy of Sterling; her father, Robert Roessler of Mountain Lakes, NJ; her two sisters, Marcie Austin of Toms River, NJ and Jennifer Reid and her husband, Jeff of Denville, NJ; her nieces and nephews, Brad Austin, Ryan Bardis, Alex Bardis, Jolene Thomas, Avery Reid and Brady Reid. She was predeceased by her mother, Carol (Grindle) Roessler and her sister, Nancy J. Hunt.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lisa’s family on Friday, August 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 11 a.m. at the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Road, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Flowers may be sent or donations in Lisa’s memory may be made to the First Church Deacon’s Fund, P.O. Box 40, Sterling, MA 01564.
