Linda D. Brown

April 10, 1944 — January 4, 2025

Barre – At home, surrounded by her family, Linda went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, in her 80th year. Born and raised in Chicago, Linda was the daughter of Forrest and Dorothy (Page) Woodland. She moved to Barre more than 60 years ago and made it her beloved home.
Linda’s family was the center of her world. She leaves behind her son James Brown and his wife, Janine of Barre; her daughter, Therese St. Louis of Clarksville, TN; her sister, Nancy Gromelski of Barre; and her late brother Jack Woodland of Florida. Linda’s legacy lives on through her four grandchildren—Joshua, Joseph, Jessica, and Jacob—and her 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who adored her.
A graduate of Barre High School, Linda was known for her athleticism, particularly excelling in basketball. She worked for many years at Shawmut Bank and Barre Savings Bank, both in Barre.
Linda was a devoted member of New Life Church, where her faith, caring heart, and compassion touched the lives of many. Her sense of humor, wisdom, and fervent prayer life were trademarks of her character. Linda’s greatest desire was to see others come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and would always let people know “I’m praying for you”.
In addition to her faith, Linda had a passion for family gatherings, where her love of cooking shone. Holidays and family meals were always special times, as Linda’s nurturing spirit brought everyone together. Her family affectionately referred to her as the "Matriarch" for her unwavering love, strength, and the profound influence she had on their lives.
Linda's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on. A private graveside service will be held at Glen Valley Cemetery in Barre at the family’s convenience.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
