Lillian T. (Raya) Williams

July 10, 1932 — June 13, 2007

HOLDEN/ACTON – Lillian T. (Raya) Williams, 74, formerly of Holden, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in UMass Memorial Healthcare Lake Avenue, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband of 49 years, Dr. Ernest J. Williams, died in 1998. She leaves two sons, Arthur D. Williams of Seattle, WA and David P. Williams of Worcester; two daughters, Mary Ann Butler of Acton and Anna L. Bartlett of Hamden, CT; a brother, Jack Hashim of Deer Park, NY; a sister Madeline Abood of Worcester; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Two daughters, Theresa M. Hessling and Rechal H. Williams predeceased her. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Said R. and Mary B. (Joseph) Hashim and lived 52 years in Holden, before recently moving to Acton.

Lillian received her Associates Degree in Science from Quinsigamond Community College in 1977 and her Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester State College in 1981. She was a dental hygienist for many years and a Health Educator at the University of Connecticut’s Dental School. She was previously a member of St Mary’s Church in Jefferson and a current member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Worcester and St. Elizabeth’s Hungary Parish of Acton and its choir. She was a member of the National Apostolate of Maronites.

The funeral for Lillian will be held on Monday, June 18th from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 17th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
