Lillian E. (Takala) Mikevicz

Biography

WORCESTER- Lillian E. (Takala) Mikevicz, 91, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Christopher Heights Assisted Living in Worcester after an illness. She was born in Holden, the daughter of Victor and Ida (Korpi) Takala.

Her loving husband of 38 years, William Mikevicz, passed away in 1998. She leaves her nephew, Allan Tuukanen and his wife, Olive of Georgia; her niece, Ruth Lambert and her husband, Paul, of Rutland; her sister-in-law, Helen Mollo of Shrewsbury; her brother-in-law, Ed Mikevicz and his wife, Georgina of Connecticut, and their grandson, Tyler; her nephew, John P. Mollo and his wife, Lisa of Grafton; her nephew, David Mollo of Grafton; her nephew, Donrae Hogsett of New York; her grand-niece, Andrea Coane and her husband, Billy and their children, William and Elise of California; her grand-niece, Amy Camilli and her husband, Kenneth of North Carolina; her grand-nephew, Robert Lambert and his wife, Kayle and their children, Caden and Colby of Rutland; her grand-niece, Julie Mollo of New York. She was predeceased by her sister, Vieno Tuukanen-Prescott; her brothers-in-law, Arne Tuukanen and Lloyd Prescott; her brother, Toivo Takala and his wife, Elma; her brother-in-law, John Mollo; her nieces, Judith Tuukanen and Karen Douglass; and her nephews, Steve Takala and Fritz Takala.
Lillian was a bookkeeper at Norton Company, Kelly-Chandler, and retired from Frost Manufacturing Company in 1989. She was devoted to her family, and loved travelling with her husband to many parts of the world including Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Mexico and across the USA to Alaska. She also enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, scrabble, bird watching, her pet dogs over the years, and cat, ”Ashes.”
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lillian’s family on Tues., May 24, from 11-12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St, Holden. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, PO Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543, or Sweetpea Animal Rescue, 1090 Pleasant St., Paxton, MA 01612.
