HOLDEN – Lillian M. (Hultman) Gustafson, 91, of Jamieson Road, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 26, 2010.
She leaves her husband of 67 years, Frank G. Gustafson and a daughter, Faith M. Gustafson. Lillian was born in Finspong, Sweden on February 20, 1919. Her parents were Richard and Agnes (Lindgren) Hultman. She immigrated to the United States at 4 ½ years old and settled with her parents in Worcester. She was educated in the Worcester Public Schools and graduated from Commerce High School in 1936. She was employed as a clerical worker at the Massachusetts Protective Association for several years and married Frank G. Gustafson on February 2, 1943 and lived in Holden for 62 years.
Lillian was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in women's groups. She also was an active member of the Holden Senior Center and served on the Board of the Holden Council on Aging. For several years, she and Frank delivered meals-on-wheels. Her hobbies included rug weaving on a loom where she was an expert. She loved to work in her flower garden. Lillian loved people and people loved her. She will be missed.
A private burial will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
