Lillian E. (Kenney) Chappell

Biography

HOLDEN/BELLEVIEW, FL – Lillian E. (Kenney) Chappell, 89, formerly of Holden, died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2014, under the loving care of her family and the staff at Estelle’s House in Ocala, Florida. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of John H. and Edith M. (Cowden) Kenney and had lived in Holden for over fifty years.

Lillian graduated from Holden High School and worked for Norton Company. In 1947 she married the love of her life, Charles Chappell, Jr. and together they raised their son, Steven.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Lillian was a member of St. George Church in Worcester and enjoyed oil painting.

Her husband of 57 years, Charles Chappell, Jr. passed away in 2005. She is survived by her son, Steven A. Chappell and his wife, Madeline “Maddy” of Belleview, FL; four step-grandchildren, including Paula Nelson Egan of Stamford, CT and Paul Nelson of Dallas, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Herbert, Robert and Thomas Kenney and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Locke.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Main Street, Holden. Memorial contributions maybe made in memory of Lillian to the Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
