Biography
WORCESTER - It is with great grief and a profound sense of sadness that the family of Lillian Godin Ginsburg of Worcester shares with you her passing. Lillian passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester surround by her loving family.
Born in Worcester, Lillian grew up in Northborough, MA, the only daughter of the late Bessie and Joseph Godin. She graduated from Northborough High School and then went on to work for Morgan Construction Company. Lillian worked at Morgan Construction for 14 years as the secretary to the Director of Purchasing. Morgan Construction valued her service so much and saw such tremendous potential in her to add great value to the company, that they offered to pay to send her to college if she returned back to work at the company. Lillian politely declined their offer and went off to start the career in life that she always really wanted, that of being a wife and mother and what a great job she did.
Her family was her pride and joy. She loved doing almost anything as long as she was surrounded by her loving husband, children and only grandchild. She loved the holidays preparing and cooking amazing meals, she loved spending time outdoors with all her beautiful plants and flowers. She was a great fan of the Boston Celtics and loved taking rides in the country with her adored husband. Her absolute favorite special and cherished thing to do was spending time with her granddaughter who she affectionately referred to as her “Kessie Girl”
Lillian is survived by her devoted, supportive and loving husband of 48 years, Herbert I. Ginsburg of Worcester, her son, Barry M. Ginsburg of Spencer and her daughter, Judith, wife of Lee Silverstein of Worcester and her granddaughter, her “Shining Star” Leah Brooke Silverstein of Worcester. Lillian also leaves behind, her brother Daniel Godin and his wife, Ellie of Delray Beach, Fl. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Arnold and Samuel Godin.
Lillian had a special saying that she would always share with her family members which was “Always keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart”. This saying takes on even more special meaning with her passing and we will all try to remember this through all times, good and bad.
Thank you Lillian, mom and bubba for giving us the special privilege of sharing your life with us. We will always love and cherish all the special memories we shared together with you. We love you dearly and will miss you so much.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center for the wonderful care they gave Lillian and the all the support offered to our family.
