Lillian G. (Garber) Palmer
September 19, 1918 — February 6, 2012
PAXTON – Lillian G. (Garber) Palmer, 93, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 6, 2012, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 69 years, Arthur S. Palmer; a son, Richard G. Palmer of Paxton; two daughters, Susan Martin and her husband John and Catherine L. Palmer, all of Paxton; three grandchildren, Tracey Chasmine, Jeffrey Cooney and Christopher Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Ashlee, Taylor, Kestra and David. Lillian was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Paul J. and Lillian (Rodenhizer) Garber and lived in Holden before moving to Paxton in 1953. She was a graduate of New Hampshire State College.
Lillian was a professional photographer and worked at the Loring, Mercer and LaPorte Studio’s, all in Worcester. She attended several area churches including the Messianic Jewish Community Church in Cherry Valley, the First Congregational Church of Paxton and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Worcester. Lillian ran her own bible study called “Food for Thought Ministries” and was a telephone minister for the handicapped in the greater Worcester area. In her spare time, she managed horse riding lessons and rented out stalls at the Field & Stream Farm. She was a former Girl Scout leader and drove a school bus for 10 years in Paxton. Lillian enjoyed singing opera, painting, gardening, traveling and attending musicals. She loved to spend time with her family and trips to their home in Rye, New Hampshire.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour starting at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 noon on Thursday, February 9, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, 251 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jews for Jesus, 60 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.
