S Barbara L. (Harris) Day

STERLING – Barbara L. (Harris) Day, 97, of Princeton Road, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 in Sterling Healthcare after an illness.
Her husband of 37 years, Laurence W. Day and her two sons, Addison W. Day, Sr. and Craig L. Day predeceased her. She leaves four grandchildren, Dorothy A. Higgins of Sterling, Nancy J. Day of Barre, Patricia M. Amburgey of Ashburnham and Addison W. Day, Jr. of Sterling; eight great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was born and raised in Leominster, daughter of Addison K. and Sadie L. (Thompson) Harris, and was a 1931 graduate of Leominster High School.
Barbara worked as a nursing assistant and in the kitchen of Holden Hospital for many years. She was an honorary life member of the Finnish Heritage Society Sovittaja in Rutland. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, crocheting, and was an avid ham radio operator and weather watcher.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
