JEFFERSON – Leslie J. (Smith) Pentland, 73, passed unexpectedly on August 13, 2022. Born in Worcester, Leslie was the daughter of the late Henry and Ellen (Brodsky) Smith.
After graduating from the Bancroft School in Worcester, Leslie went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clark University, and a Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling from Assumption University. She then went on to work as a Guidance Director in the Worcester Public School system, eventually pursuing a career as a licensed Realtor. After growing up at Temple Emanuel, she eventually affiliated with Temple Sinai, both in Worcester.
Leslie was an avid tennis player, music lover and an exceptional dancer. She had a lifelong passion playing the piano. A volunteer at the Worcester Art Museum (following in her mother’s footsteps) she was a true lover of art. She always welcomed the opportunity for a great cup of coffee with family and friends. A dedicated New England sports fan, she also enjoyed traveling whenever possible. Above all, Leslie was an amazing mother, and a devoted daughter, sister and cousin, and relished every moment spent with her children.
Leslie will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Craig S. Pentland of New York City, and Kimberly B. Pentland of Somerville and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Smith of Brakel, Belgium.
Leslie’s family and friends will gather for a Graveside Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Friday, August 19, 2022 at B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Road, Worcester. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
