HOLDEN, MA /CHESHIRE, CT – Leslie H. Coley, Jr., 87, formerly of Cheshire, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 under the loving care of his family and the staff at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of Leslie H. and Edith (Leonard) Coley and lived in Cheshire most of his life.
Mr. Coley graduated from Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and worked as an engineer at Scovill Manufacturing Co/Century Brass in Waterbury for 45 years retiring in 1987. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was a 50 year member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire. Mr. Coley enjoyed playing golf and bridge, bowling and woodworking.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Mona (Crisfield) Coley; a daughter, Laraine M. Fleurant and her husband, Daniel of Holden; two sons, David L. Coley and his wife, Vicki of Frisco, Texas and James A. Coley and his wife, Patricia of Bristol, CT; four grandchildren, Matthew Coley and his wife, Sabrina, Timothy and William Coley, and Michelle Benoit; a great grandson, Devin Benoit; five nephews and nieces. A granddaughter, Carrie Coley and a brother, Elbert “Bud” Coley, predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A memorial service for Mr. Coley will be held at the First Congregational Church in Cheshire at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 26. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire, CT 06410.
