Leroy 'Lee' C. Orton
February 18, 1939 — December 8, 2013
SPENCER/HOLDEN – Leroy “Lee” C. Orton, 74, of Howe Village, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 8, 2013, under the loving care of his family, after an illness. Lee was born in Gardner, the son of David Leroy and Ruth H. (Hunter) Orton and had lived in Rutland and Holden before moving to Spencer where he resided for the last 23 years.
Lee was a truck driver for Reed Plastics Co. in Holden for over 10 years. Previously, he worked for Holden Sand and Gravel. He was fascinated with trucks, cars and motorcycles and had bought and sold over 100 cars in his lifetime. Lee especially enjoyed taking his annual motorcycle trip to Laconia, New Hampshire. He also loved anything to do with Country Western and his nightly trips to Dunkin Donuts.
He is survived and will be missed by his children, James Orton of Holden, Laurie Lane and her husband, Roy of Sterling, Richard Orton of Pawtucket, RI, Amy Miln and Shawn Orton both of Holden and Angela Grigarauskas and her husband, Ryan of Spencer; a step-daughter, Jolene Sicard of Spencer; a brother, Robert Orton of Manchester, NH; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two nieces. A daughter, Cynthia Cassano, predeceased him in 2011.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral service for Lee will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Check Twice Save A Life!, checks made payable to Gene Pearson Motorcycle Awareness Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 542, Oldsmar, FL 34677.
