Biography
HOLDEN – Leota L. (LaPrade) Curtis, 90, of Flagler Drive, a lifelong resident of Holden, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, Worcester. She was born in Holden, one of eight children, to Francois A. and Elizabeth M. (Spring) LaPrade.
Leota graduated from Holden High School in 1941. She was a member of St. Christopher Church in Worcester, the Monday Morning Women’s Bowling League, and was active at the Holden Senior Center where she delivered meals-on-wheels. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of 59 years, Richard Curtis; a son, Richard L. Curtis and his wife Michelle of Westford; two daughters, Karen R. Manseau and Patricia E. Curtis, both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Aimee Manseau, Elizabeth Curtis and Brigitte Manseau; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Romeo, Arthur, Richard and Roland LaPrade, and three sisters, Juliette Phillips, Ellen LaPrade and Pauline Turnan, predeceased her.
A funeral Mass honoring Leota’s Life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 2, at St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston Street (Rte. 12), Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1326 Main Street, (Rte. 122A), Holden. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MassachusettsChapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472; or the Holden Council on Aging, 1130 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
