Leonard 'Lenny' E. Morris

STERLING –Leonard "Lenny" E. Morris, 80, of Hardscrabble Road, died peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, after an illness.

His beloved wife and best friend of 37 years, Patricia (O'Leary) Morris, died in 1996. He leaves his two daughters, Lennie S. Paquette and Shawn T. Morris and her long time companion William "Fred" Burns all of Sterling. He was born in Clinton, the son of Joseph E. and Lucy L. (Elliott) Morris, and lived all of his life in Sterling.

Lenny graduated from Leominster High School and served in the U.S. Air Force between 1949 and 1952 at Lackland, Chanute and Williams Air Force Bases. While at Williams Air Force Base, he taught reciprocating and jet engines. He was also a crew chief for the T-33 jet trainer and flight chief for theT-34's twin seat jet trainers. After leaving the service, Lenny rejoined his father at Worcester Street Garage, their family business in Sterling, which he eventually owned and operated until 2005. He also operated Hornbeam Farms in Sterling where he and his wife sold plants. Lenny was a member of the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post 189 in Sterling.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27th, in the Miles–Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A graveside service for Lenny will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th, at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P. O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
