RUTLAND – Leigh Kristine Johnson, 52, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus. Born in Holden and raised in Rutland, Leigh was the daughter of the late William and Karen (Kenerson) Johnson.
Leigh graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1987. She held many local jobs as a young adult. Eventually, she settled into a career as a housekeeper in both residential and commercial settings in the town of Princeton. Over the years she lovingly cared for many seniors in need of her services. When the time came, Leigh turned that attention to her parents and cared for each of them at home.
To her close friends and family, Leigh was known for her dry wit and good cooking. She enjoyed taking walks in the woods near her home, as well as tending to her garden and yard.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her longtime partner, Brian David Steinberg with whom she lived; her brother, William Johnson and his wife, Allison of Bristol, NH; her sister, Kristin Johnson and her wife, Terri Camp of CO; a niece, Alexandra Johnson; and a nephew, Porter Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Leigh’s generous spirit, please honor her with your own act of generosity and/or kindness. Feel free to share the details of your actions on Leigh’s "Tribute Wall" on this page.
