SOUTH GRAFTON – Leeland J. Jacques, Sr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus after an illness. He was born in Millbury, the son of Louis G. and Doris M. (Plouffie) Jacques and lived in South Grafton and Sutton most of his life before moving to Holden four years ago.
He leaves a son, Leeland J. Jacques, Jr. of Jefferson; a daughter, Kerrysue Jacques of Webster; three brothers, Albert, Francis and Norman Jacques, all of South Grafton; three grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher and Elisha; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Jacques.
Leeland was a Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Arcadia (AD-23). He was a union plasterer with Boston Plasterers Local 534 and owned and operated Jacques Plastering for many years before retiring recently. Previously, he worked for Acme Plastering in Boston for several years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed a good round of golf.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday December 28, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
