WEST BOYLSTON – Frederica L. (Donley) Griswold, 98, of Goodale Street, died peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010, at Sterling Village in Sterling.
Her husband of 46 years, Harold W. Griswold, died in 1985. She leaves a son, Ralph H. Griswold of North Andover; three daughters, Marilyn W. Griswold with whom she lived, Suzanne G. Roberts of Concord, New Hampshire and Cynthia G. Ohlin and her husband Carl of East Longmeadow; five grandchildren, Darren and Carleton Roberts, Rebecca Urban, Abigail Klinger and Hannah Butler; and 10 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Grace Martin and Rebecca Meuller, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Howard and Grace L. (Hoyle) Donley and lived 56 years in West Boylston.
Mrs. Griswold graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and attended Simmons College, both in Boston. She was a Registered Nurse and worked over 20 years at Worcester County Hospital in Boylston. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, the Historical Society of West Boylston and a life member of the Massachusetts Memorial School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 11th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Mrs. Griswold’s funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 12th, in the funeral home with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of West Boylston Memorial Fund, 26 Central Street, West Boylston, MA 01583; or the West Boylston Historical Society, P.O. Box 201, West Boylston, MA 01583.
