WINCHENDON/STERLING – Lawrence “Sully” D. Sullivan, 79, of 10 River Road, died at home with his loving family beside him on Thursday, August 11, 2005, after a long illness.
He leaves his loving bride of 30 years, Corliss A. (Leighton) McKenna Sullivan; three sons, Lawrence D. Sullivan of Clinton, Mark J. McKenna of Worcester and Kevin J. McKenna of Shrewsbury; four daughters, Tina L. Sullivan Higgins of Sterling, Katy M. Sullivan Longhi of Alvin, Texas, Pamela J. McKenna DiPerrio of Holden and Christine J. McKenna Orciani of Sterling; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. His first wife, Angela (Zola) Sullivan, died in 1970; and his second wife, Ellen (Verta) Sullivan, died in 1972. A brother, Denis J. Sullivan of Fitchburg, and three sisters, Joyce Brinz of Leominster, Barbara Sylvain of Florida and Ann Rasponi of New Hampshire, predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Denis and Margaret (Calt) Sullivan, lived in Sterling until 1984, retired to Florida and moved to Winchendon last year. He attended St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving on the U.S.S. Biloxi in the Pacific theater.
Mr. Sullivan worked as an estimator for The Harding Glass Co. of Worcester for many years. He enjoyed camping, hunting and traveling and was a great optimist in life.
The funeral for Mr. Sullivan will be held on Tuesday, August 16, from the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 15, in the funeral home.
