Lawrence F. Pender

March 29, 1929 — January 25, 2012

PRINCETON ~ Lawrence F. Pender, 82, of Ball Hill Rd., died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 after an illness. He was born in Worcester on March 29, 1929, the son of Thomas J. and Margaret (Guilfoyle) Pender and had lived in Princeton for over 40 years.

He is survived by his brother Thomas Pender of Far Rockaway, NY; many nieces and nephews; and his two close friends, Kathy Friberg of Princeton and Bengt Hansson of Holden. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard A. Pender of West Yarmouth and two sisters, Mary M. Flagg and Ambrose D. Pender.

Mr. Pender served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Clark University in Worcester and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. He was a manager for Astra Pharmaceutical Inc. in Worcester, retiring in 1994. Mr. Pender was a member of the Frohsinn Ballroom Dance Club in Shrewsbury and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club in Worcester.

The friends and family of Mr. Pender would like to express their sincere gratitude to Cynthia Diamond and Dorcas Sarpong for their extraordinary care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th in the Prince of Peace Church, 5 Worcester Road, Princeton. Burial will be held in the spring in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Church, P.O. Box 305, Princeton, MA 01541. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
