WEST BOYLSTON – Lawrence J. Caron, 90, of 34 Waushacum Street died Saturday, July 15, 2006, in UMass Memorial Health Care, Lake Avenue, Worcester.
His wife of 60 years, Olive (Wilson) Caron, died in 2002. He leaves two daughters, Kathleen C. Dill and her husband Donald of West Boylston, and Elizabeth C. McPherson and her husband Robert of Blanding, Utah; two brothers, Wilfred Caron of Winslow, Maine and Oda Caron of Port Orange, Florida; four sisters, Genora Paradis of Winslow, Maine, Aurore Sigler of Lakeland, Florida, Margaret Sayger of Detroit, Michigan and Theresa Caron of Rochester, New Hampshire; three grandsons, David, Jonathan and Daniel McPherson; 8 granddaughters, Elizabeth, Heather and Michelle McPherson, Ashley and Chelsea Dill, Nirmala Lynch, Phulmalati Sutherland and Gita Holske; 10 great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Gerald, Henry and James and three sisters, Natalie, Louise, Hilda and Evelyn Roy, predeceased him. He was born on February 24, 1916, in Fort Kent, Maine the son of Alphonse J. and Eugenie M. (Dumais) Caron and lived 65 years in West Boylston.
Mr. Caron was a branch manager for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette for 28 years retiring in 1982. He also owned and operated Temple Real Estate in West Boylston from 1960 to 1978. He was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church, Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston, and several local and state Republican Party associations. He was a Ham Radio enthusiast and belonged to the Worcester Ham Radio Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Boylston Lodge of Masons in West Boylston, Scottish Rite Bodies of Worcester including; the Worcester Lodge of Perfection, Goddard Council Princes of Jerusalem and Lawrence Chapter of Rose Croix. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Consistory in Boston, Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington and the Worcester County Shrine Club.
Mr. Caron was a World War II Veteran and served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard.
The funeral service for Mr. Caron will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, in the Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow in High Plain Cemetery, High Street, West Boylston. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 21 in the Miles–Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The Boylston Lodge of Masons will conduct a ritual service at 7 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Oakdale United Methodist Church, 59 North Main Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
