RUTLAND – Laurence K. Ahlstrom, 58, of 17 Edson Avenue, died Friday, December 2, 2005, in St. Vincent Hospital, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 24 years, Joann C. Blum; his son, Evan L. Ahlstrom of Rutland; a daughter, Michelle L. Taylor of Panama City, Florida; his mother, Gladys (Carlson) Troy of Worcester; two step-sons, Dana Smith and Darren Blum both of Holden; two brothers, Paul and Keith Troy both of Worcester; three sisters, Janet Gallant, Nancy Troy, and Patricia Barry; and eight grandchildren, Tyler and Amber Taylor, Victoria Ahlstrom, Ashley and Hayley Blum, Jonah, Hayden and Connor Smith. He was born in Worcester and lived in Rutland for 25 years.

Mr. Ahlstrom was the Store Manager at Homegoods in Westboro. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family in Peaks Island, Maine.

The funeral service for Mr. Ahlstrom will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 5, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02215.
