RUTLAND - Joanne (LaMalva) Charette, 59, of Prospect Street, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband of 17 years, Francis A. Charette; her children, Lisa (Collamore) Tocci, her husband Joseph and their children Vincent and Dominick, of Boylston, Tracy (Collamore) Powers, her husband John and their children Chloe, Avarie and Jack, of Wolcott, CT, and Brian Collamore, his wife Sara (Aliperti) and their children April and Troy, of Westford; stepchildren, Tracy (Charette) Barton, her husband Michael and their children Shayne and Julia, and Kim (Charette) Johnson, her husband Mark and their children Kyle, Ryan and Erik, all of Spencer; two sisters, Judy (LaMalva) O'Connor and her husband James of Worcester and Janice (LaMalva) Pacenka and her husband James of Sutton; two brothers, Joseph LaMalva and his wife Linda (Messier) of Tolland, CT, and Jeff LaMalva and his wife Melissa (White) of Ellington, CT; her step-mother, Margaret (Ryan) LaMalva of Worcester; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Joanne was born on July 22, 1950 in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Belair) LaMalva, and lived in Princeton before moving to Rutland 15 years ago.
She was a graduate of Burncoat High School, and received her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Mathematics from Anna Maria College and her PhD in Business Administration from Southwest University. She was the Second Vice President of Investments, Financial Consultant CFP for SmithBarney Citigroup in Worcester where she worked for the last 10 years. She started her career as an adjunct professor at Anna Maria College where she was an Assistant Dean for 14 years. Afterward, she licensed and accredited the College of Falmouth Institute of Quality System Management in less than three years.
Even though Joanne was quite accomplished in her career, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 18th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Joanne will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, from the funeral home with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston.
