Joseph K. Oates

HOLDEN – Joseph K. Oates, 45, of 307 Shrewsbury St., died at home on Thursday, April 17, 2008, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer which to his credit, he fought to his last day.

He leaves his mother with whom he lived, Marie (DiAngelo) Oates; his maternal grandmother, Frances DiAngelo of Holden; and a brother, William J. Oates and his wife Lisa and their children, Courtney, Christopher, Nichalas and Tori Leigh Oates all of Holden. Joseph was born on October 4, 1962, son of the late William L. Oates, and lived 23 years in Stony Brook, New York, 15 years in Ft. Myers, Florida before moving to Holden in 2007.

Joseph graduated from Ward Melville Senior High School in Stony Brook, New York and was a sales executive with Medieval Glass Industries.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation period from 3:30 to 5 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 19th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Port Washington, Long Island, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Pancreatic Care Alliance, UMass Memorial Foundation, 1 Biotech Park, Suite 100, 365 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
