Biography

WEST BOYLSTON - Kiriaki (Zahariadis) Fotiadis, 86, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  Kiriaki was born in Novi Gargi, Georgia, Russia, the daughter of Kyriakos and Agape Zahariadis. With World War II looming in 1939, Kiriaki, at the age of nine, immigrated with her family to their homeland and settled in Katerini, Greece. While in Greece, she selflessly volunteered her time to those less fortunate who were in need of medical care and other assistance. In 1956, Kiriaki met and married the love of her life, Stavros Fotiadis, and together persevered and overcame hard times and raised their five beautiful children who would forever be by their side. In 1974, Kiriaki fulfilled a longtime dream of providing her children with the best education possible and sojourned to the United States. They resided in Roslindale where they were embraced by the Greek community.  After a brief stay, they moved to Shrewsbury where they lived for 20 years before moving to West Boylston in 2007.
While residing in Shrewsbury, Kiriaki and Stavros along with their son, Savvas, bought Dean Park Pizza in Shrewsbury which they ran for the following 10 years. In 1998, her family purchased the former Franklin Manor in West Boylston which they transformed into a large banquet facility and restaurant. After 18 successful years as The Manor, Kiriaki’s family once again renovated the restaurant which is now known as the Draught House Grill & Bar and Manor Banquet facility.
Kiriaki was a faithful member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester. When not assisting her family at the restaurant, she could be found meticulously tending to her vegetable and flower gardens which produce were put to good use at the restaurant. Kiriaki was a virtuous and gracious woman. She provided a safe and loving environment for her family and taught them life lessons with patience and encouragement. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and will be remembered for her tenacious spirit and reverence for life.
Her husband, Stavros Fotiadis died in 2007. She leaves her five children, Kyriakos Fotiadis  and his wife, Hariklia of Shrewsbury, Dimitrios Fotiadis of West Boylston, Savvas and Janet Fotiadis of West Boylston, Antonios Fotiadis of West Boylston, and Katerina Fotiadis Rajotte and her husband, Ronald of Worcester; ten grandchildren, Stavros Fotiadis of Worcester, Lazaros Fotiadis of Shrewsbury, Stavros Fotiadis of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Kiriaki Fotiadis of New York City, Maria Fotiadis of California, Kassiani Fotiadis of North Attleboro, Kiriaki, Johanna and Joseph Rajotte all of Worcester, Steve Callahan of Ft. Besides her husband and parents, Kiriaki is predeceased by a grandson, Panagiotis "Peter" Fotiadis who died at the tender age of 21; two brothers, Zaharias and Yiannis Zahariadis; and a sister, Panagiota Zahariadis.
Kiriaki's family would like extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of those who have cared for and supported their mother for the last 13 years, especially Christina Bardhollari, for her unwavering compassion.
