HOLDEN/ORMOND BEACH, FL – Kenneth M. Wentworth, 95, of Ormond Beach, formerly of Worcester and Holden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Daytona Beach, FL. Born and raised in Worcester, Ken was the son of the late Jesse Fairbanks and Maude Frances (Clapp) Wentworth. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and attended Aurora College in Aurora, IL. He will lovingly be missed by daughter, Karen and her husband, Jonas Stewart of Port Orange, Florida; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by two sons, Keith and Paul K. Wentworth and a sister, Myrtice Greenfield. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 until 1945. After returning home from the service, Ken went to work for his dad in his home construction business and built many homes in Holden including his own. He moved to Florida in 1960 and later lived in Arizona and California where he worked as a building inspector for the Department of the Navy. In 1982, after the death of his beloved wife of 36 years, Ruth (Conroy) Wentworth, Ken retired and moved to Ormond Beach and was briefly married to Bonnie (Pafford) Wentworth who died in 1986. He later married Evelyn “Poppy” (Gerard) Wentworth with whom he spend the following 24 years summering in Kennebunk, Maine and wintering in Florida until her death in 2010. Ken lived an active life and held a private pilot’s license, enjoyed playing golf and played tennis to the age of 88. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his love of God, family, country and his pride in being a Marine and serving in WWII. He had a lovely bass voice and sang a lot of solos and in groups. Ken had an amazing ability to memorize and recite which he often did. He loved to tell jokes and play cribbage. Ken loved life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors at 12 noon on Monday, October 30, at Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
