HOLDEN – Kenneth C. Olsen, 85, of 68 Reservoir Street, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in the Sterling Healthcare Center after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Barbara A. (Laird) Olsen; his son, Steven L. Olsen and his wife Patricia J. of Rutland; four grandchildren, Alyssa Brewer of Worcester, Bradford Olsen of Holden, Alison and Andrew Perry of Rutland; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Brewer. He was born in Worcester, son of William and Elsie (Carlson) Olsen, and lived in Worcester before moving to Holden two years ago. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade, and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 193rd tank division Asiatic Pacific theater.
Mr. Olsen worked for National Envelope Company in Worcester for 12 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1985. Previously he worked 35 years for U.S. Envelope. He was a longtime member of Chaffin Congregational Church where he sang in the choir and was the church sexton for 25 years. He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, a former member of the Thule Lodge of Odd Fellows in Worcester, and a former member of Hope Congregational Church in Worcester where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for 18 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
A memorial service for Mr. Olsen will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, in the Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, is directing arrangements.
