HOLDEN – Kelly A. (Buffi) O’Brien, 49, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Worcester and raised in Southbridge, she was the daughter of Donna (Moore) Charbonneau and Donald Charbonneau.
She graduated from Southbridge High School and went on to further her education by earning a nursing degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Kelly was an amazing nurse, caring for patients at the Jewish Healthcare Center as well as Family Healthcare in Worcester for many years. In her spare time Kelly enjoyed photographing her family, hiking, going to concerts, attending all of her kids activities, or simply relaxing on her hammock having a cookout. She was passionate about fitness, completing two triathlons and several color runs with her family. She also loved spending time with her two dogs, Murphy and Scrappy, and her cat, Mookie Lennon.
Kelly’s true passion in life was being a mom. Whether fulfilling her role as a “hockey mom” or asking her morning question “what’s for dinner?” she was a dedicated mother first and foremost and she embraced every moment with her children. Those who knew Kelly best will always remember that to Kelly… “LIG”.
Kelly will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband, Daniel of Holden and their two children, Emma and Connor; her parents, Donna and Donald Charbonneau of Southbridge; two brothers, Frank Buffi of Southbridge and Donald Webber and his wife, Michelle of Palmer, MA; her sister, Lauri Buffi of Woodstock, CT; her mother-in-law, Dianne O’Brien of Punta Gorda, FL; many nieces and nephews; and her canine companions, Scrappy and Murphy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kelly’s family on Saturday, May 18 from 4 to 7 pm in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kelly’s name may be made to "Animal Shelter Inc." (Sterling Animal Shelter), 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
