WORCESTER – Katina (Cipas) Boras, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 4th, 2024 at UMass Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, she was the daughter of the late George and Victoria (Hondropoulos) Cipas.
Katina was raised in Europe, where she met the love of her life, Konstantinos Boras, at a young age. The two fell in love and were inseparable. After 8 years of living in different countries, they married in 1965 in Greece and settled in Worcester where together, they raised a family.
As a wife, mother and Yiayia she was the heart of the family, always putting others ahead of herself. She loved cooking for her family making any gathering a special occasion and found so much joy in her grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the world, especially back home to Greece and Turkey.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 59 years, Konstantinos Boras; a daughter, Christina Papalilo of Holden; a son, George Boras and his wife, Tamara of Blackstone; a sister, Barbara Sokos of Rutland; 4 grandchildren; Alex, Victoria, Kosta and Johnny, 2 grandogs Obi and Cooper (who will miss her constant treats and cuddles) along with many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, August 8th, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St., Worcester. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
