HOLDEN – Kathleen M. (Skjoldager) Renkens, 53, of 19 Marlen Road, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at home after a courageous battle against breast cancer.
She leaves a daughter, Brooke C. Renkens of Montvale, NJ; her parents, Jack and Shirley (Sanders) Skjoldager of Appleton, WI; two brothers, Paul Skjoldager of Memphis, TN, and Karl Skjoldager of Foley, AL. She was born in Elmhurst, IL, and lived 14 years in Oakham before moving to Holden last year. She received her master’s degree in education from Cambridge College.
Kathy was a language arts teacher at Shrewsbury Middle School for 19 years. She was a beloved person whose attitude, strength, perseverance and courage served as a role model for others to follow and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted mother and daughter, a cherished sister, a treasured and loyal friend and a teacher of high esteem. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, in the First Congregational Church, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation via
