HOLDEN – Kathleen R. (Davis) O’Grady, 76, of Holden, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and staff at the Autumn Village in Worcester on Friday, March 28, 2014, after an illness. Born in Holden on June 4, 1937, Kathy was the daughter of Harold E. and Catherine (Davitt) Davis and lived in Rutland before moving to Holden in 1968.
Kathy graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden and worked at Thom McCan Shoe Company in Worcester for 40 years, retiring as a payroll specialist in 1995. She was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and on its bereavement committee.
Kathy was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed her many trips to Ireland with her husband. Her other interests included gardening, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles, vacationing in Maine and volunteering with the meals-on-wheels program at the Holden Senior Center.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ralph J. O’Grady; four sisters, Gloria Gardner and her husband, Warren and Ruth Wagner and her husband, Robert all of Jefferson, Esther Hill and her husband, James and Mary Carr and her husband, William all of Holden; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Davis.
Kathy’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Gentiva Hospice, especially to her nurse, Genevie.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kathy’s family from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson for a funeral Mass honoring her life at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately in the spring at Grove Cemetery, Holden.
