WORCESTER – Katherine A. (Chapman) Scott, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Beaumont at University Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Oxford, a daughter of the late John M. and Annie (Himmelman) Chapman.
Katherine attended Oxford schools and the David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School, Worcester. She worked as a retail associate for several years before marrying her husband, Walter E. Scott on February 17, 1940, sharing 59 years together before Walter’s death in 1999. Katherine was a longtime member of Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Worcester, and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle.
Katherine will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughter, Nancy Scott of Worcester, with whom she lived and her son, Earl C. Scott of Worcester; her two grandchildren, Michelle Brunell and Matthew Scott; her three great grandchildren, Addison, Grace and Owen Scott; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, John and Harold Chapman and by her sister, Gladys Chapman.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Katherine’s family on Sunday, October 25, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Her funeral will be celebrated on Monday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Marks Episcopal Church, Zero Freeland Street, Worcester with the Rev. Donald Chamberlain as celebrant. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Marks Episcopal Church, Zero Freeland Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
