PROVIDENCE, RI - Karren (Kartell) Cowl, 75, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Pockwotton on the Waterfront. She leaves her husband, Dr. John G. Cowl; a daughter, Lisa Jacobson, wife of Danny Karpf of New York City; a step-daughter, Dr. Allison Cowl, wife of Richard Nicoletti of Petersham, MA; and six grandchildren. She received a Masters Degree in Education from Boston University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Hunter College. She was amongst the first teachers in Project Headstart in Brooklyn, NY. She was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Baltimore, Boston, New York City and Pembroke, MA before moving to Providence 5 years ago. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Sunday, January 21st in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA. Burial will be in East Street Cemetery in Petersham. Immediately following the interment service a Memorial Observance reception will be held at the Unitarian Church on Route 32, “Town Common” in Petersham. Please omit flowers.
