Karen E. Mcnutt

December 13, 1962 — November 20, 2023

Southbridge - Karen E. McNutt, 60, passed away on Monday November 20, 2023 with family by her side after an illness. She was born in Chicopee, MA on Westover Airforce Base. She was the daughter of Robert and Billie Jean (Burham) Brownson who predeceased her. She lived in Brookfield and Worcester where she raised her children most of her life.
She leaves her children whom she was proud of everyday and loved dearly, Jessica and husband Jeremy Moon of Chandler, Arizona and daughter Kyleigh, her son’s Jacob and wife Ashely Innes of Austin, Texas , Gregory and wife Meghan Caswell Mechanicville, New York, Andrew “AJ” Caswell of Brookfield. Karen supported and loved two other children as they grew up - Christina Izbicki of Brookfield ,MA and Joshua Caceras of Worcester , Ma. Karen had a full heart that included her nieces, nephews and the Corriveau and Viano children with whom she loved as her own. She leaves three siblings who visited her upon her last days.
Karen worked as a paraprofessional most of her life and dedicated 30 years to teaching in the Worcester public schools. She enjoyed the children and most of all the chaos of both balancing and teaching them when many did not believe they could learn due to the special and unique needs they had. Karen in her later years worked at Seven Hills Foundation and Tempus as a PCA. She was recently retired.
Karen had many things she enjoyed and most of all with the people that she loved would have a piece of her. Her weekly calls with her children and texts with many that were not local continue to bring her comfort and connection. She had a quick wit of southern charm and wild being that came out along with the love that she had a foundation that she would only share with people she was close with. Karen loved sports, especially football and the Patriots. She loved telling the many stories of meeting several Patriots -her favorite would always be Tedy Bruschi. Her love of the outdoors was seen in her travels and through her loved ones. She loved the ocean, kayaking, walking and exploring, she loved a good antique store and a beach walk to talk to anyone that would have conversation. Karen had a way to get a smile out of a stranger or a conversation out of anyone that was willing to talk. She enjoyed several travels including that of her favorite places: York Beach and Monhegan Island in Maine and the oceans on Cape Cod. She loved visiting her children and traveled to visit them prior to covid. Karen would often drive to any destination she could get to that would bring her to the water and the peace that surrounded that. Karen loved good food and often would make sure to have every sauce to go with it, the extra toppings to add flavor and or the many layers of good stuff that she would enjoy. She loved the holidays and seeing her children and the small children around her lite up. Karen loved to cook her favorite dishes of holiday snacks and/or her best stuffing around. She loved Thanksgiving and would always be the last to eat and the one still eating as others moved to dessert.

Karen loved turtles, nutcrackers, reading, dancing and attending celebrations. She loved music and would often be either singing a tune, dancing to a tune she thought of or singing along her favorite artists that would be a memory to remember.
The family of Karen would like to say a special thank you to Dana Farber and the VNA Hospice group especially Ellen and Erica who worked closely with her family to make her the most comfortable with needs before leaving us. She loved her friends that would show up to visit her in her last days to give her comfort.
As she often would say “Miss you like mad” – remember to cherish your loved ones here today and everyday.
