STERLING - Juliet "Judy" (Hamm) Catmen, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 8, 2018 with her beloved family by her side. Born in Holden and raised in Princeton, Judy was the daughter of William C. and Lillian M. (Gendren) Hamm, lived 10 years in Clinton, and the last 57 years in Sterling. Judy was a graduate of Princeton High School class of 1944.
Her husband of 47 years, Earl J. Catmen died in 1997. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Patricia L. Carroll and her husband, Charles and Lorraine Catmen and her longtime companion, Ron Carroll all of Sterling; several nieces and nephews; and her favorite cat, Teddy. Besides her husband, Judy is predeceased in life by two brothers, William and Robert Hamm and three sisters, Barbara Hamm, Aili "Lee" DiBenedetto and June Schartner.
Prior to being married, Judy worked as a telephone operator in Princeton. She later assisted her husband operate Earl's Market in Clinton which they owned for over 30 years. In 1972, she opened Four Seasons Hair Salon in Clinton. Judy's daughters, Patty and Lorraine, operated the business with their mom until 2015. She also worked 10 years as a hostess at the former Twin Oak's Restaurant in Sterling.
Judy enjoyed cooking, entertaining and spending time at her summer camp at Wyman's Pond in Westminster. She is fondly remembered by her family as a hard worker, fashionable dresser and wonderful mother.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Judy's family from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 12, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling, followed by a procession to St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Rd., Sterling, MA 01564, or St. Richard of Chichester Church, P.O. Box 657, Sterling, MA 01564.
