Biography
RUTLAND - Julian Votruba of Rutland passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, July 14, 2016, after an illness. He was 89. Julian was born in Lesko, Poland, the son of Filip J. and Catherine (Katarzyna Kotyk) Votruba. His family immigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in the Vernon Hill section of Worcester. In 1954, Julian married the love of his life, Maria Paszt, also an immigrant of Poland, and in 1969 they moved to Rutland where they raised their three children.
Julian was educated in Poland and worked 32 years at Reed Rolled Thread & Die Co. in Holden, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Rutland. His favorite hobby was raising homing pigeons, a passion he enjoyed since the age of six. Julian was a humble and devoted family man and recently said "so rich with grandchildren".
