ARCADIA, CA – Julian Rybicki, 88, formerly of South Grafton, died Monday, July 20, 2009 in Methodist Hospital, Arcadia.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, June E. (Nichols) Rybicki; nephews, a niece and grandnephew and grandnieces. Two brothers, Walter and William Rybicki, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Grafton, the son of Julian and Barbara (Hospod) Rybicki, and was a graduate of Grafton High School and Becker College. He also attended UCLA.
Julian was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served from 1942 – 1945 in the European Theatre. He was a crew member of the B-17 bomber and was awarded the EAME Theatre Campaign Ribbon with six battle stars, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Presidential Unit Citation. He was an accountant in the Assessor's Office for Los Angeles County for many years retiring in 1979.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 27th, at Old Howard Cemetery, Armsby Road, Sutton, MA. The Rev. Glenn Rice of Oak Hill Bible Church will officiate. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Salvation Army Citadel Corp., 640 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
