RUTLAND – Judith Judkins, 71, of Lewis Street, died peacefully surrounded by her family including her daughter, Sheila and long-time companion, Bill, on Friday, July 30, 2010, in the Rose Monahan Home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves her daughter, Sheila L. Judkins of Rutland; her best friend and partner, William Banks of Holden; two brothers, Robert W. Judkins and his wife Bonnie of Kenduskeag, Maine and Alan I. Judkins of Rutland; a sister, Jane Murray and her husband Bruce of Sterling; six nephews and nieces, Rhonda, Paul and Scott Murray, Robin Olejiniczak, Michael and Steven Judkins. Judy was born on September 2, 1938 in Holden, a daughter of Harold I. and Charlotte E. (Wheeler) Judkins, Jr., and has lived in Rutland all of her life. She was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School and worked at the Devereux School in Rutland for over 10 years. Previously she was at Goff & Cagan Accounting Firm in Worcester for 22 years.
She loved the community of Rutland and was a member of the Rutland Historical Society and Historical Commission and the Rutland Republican Committee. She was an active lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland where she served on the music, sunshine and prudential committees, and its Monday night club.
Judy lived a vibrant, active life. She most enjoyed spending time with her many friends, her daughter and family. Ogunquit, Maine was Judy's favorite place to be where she spent countless days and summers there. She had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed antiquing, gardening, traveling and participating in all social events.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 2nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Judy will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3rd, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th, in Rural Cemetery, Rutland.
