HOLDEN - Judith J. (Jackson) Guy, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2014 under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Judith was the daughter of William R. and Marguerite Piot Jackson. Judith and her husband lived in Cali, Colombia for 22 years before moving to Martha’s Vineyard and, then to Vero Beach, Florida.
Her beloved husband of 63 years, Norman L. Guy, died in 2006. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela L. Hanson of Jefferson and Penelope G. Morgan and her husband, Samuel of Holden; three grandchildren, Meredith Yaker, Abigail Morgan and Jessica Molter; and five great-grandchildren, Aidan Rowland Molter, Owen Curtis Molter, Esther Morgan Dame, Mary Judith Yaker and Charles Norman Yaker.
Judith graduated from Upper Darby High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoyed theater and acting and was a member of the Plays and Players of Philadelphia before she was married.
Judith and her husband, Norman led a rich and active life during their years in Cali, Colombia. In addition to raising her two daughters, she, together with her husband, founded an amateur theatrical company, The Valley Players. She also taught drama and the history of theater at the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. For many years, she and a friend programmed and broadcast a twice-daily English language radio program on Radio Cadena Todelar. Judith enjoyed theater, music, painting and playing tennis and bridge. As a member of the American Women’s Club of Cali, she was active in fund-raising activities that supported a variety of charities.
After Judith’s husband retired in 1973, they moved to Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts where they owned and operated the Martha’s Vineyard Travel Bureau. In 1981 they moved to Vero Beach, Florida. While living there, Judith was a volunteer reader for the WQCS Radio Reading Service, which provides services for the visually impaired in that area. In 2003 they moved to Holden in order to be near their two daughters.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abby’s House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
