BOYLSTON – Judith S. Allen, formerly of West Boylston, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side, on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 67. Born in Worcester and raised in West Boylston, Judy was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine (Renzoni) Allen and lived the last 36 years in Boylston.
Judy graduated from West Boylston High School, class of 1968. Being the oldest daughter in a family of four girls, Judy learned early in life to be nurturing, responsible, caring and creative. It became apparent to her, after graduating high school, that she should attend Worcester State College in Worcester for teaching. After receiving her bachelor and master’s degrees in education, Judy taught kindergarten in West Boylston for 15 years until temporarily leaving teaching to raise her children and provide loving care to several foster children. When the timing was right, and her children were raised, Judy accepted a position as a special needs aide in West Boylston school system’s pre-kindergarten program. Her career in pre-school special needs was cut short due to the physically devastating effects of Parkinson’s disease.
Judy was a true blessing to her sisters Nancy, Francine and Marian filling their lives with her loving spirit, tender guidance, warm sensitivity and heartwarming sense of humor. She was a devoted and amazing wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend. Judy had a big heart, always generous, loving children, teaching and selflessly giving of herself. She enjoyed any activity that would bring her closer to her family including, blueberry picking on a warm summer day, kayaking with her husband, and hiking with her sisters.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her beloved husband of 37 years, Don Johnson; two sons, Anthony Johnson of Worcester and Andrew “Randy” Johnson of Boylston; three sisters, Nancy Lagerstrom and her husband, Phillip of Venice, FL, Francine Soule and her husband, Robert of Englewood, FL, and Marian Antul of Gloucester; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Judy is predeceased by her infant son, Matthew Johnson.Relative and friends are invited to visit with Judy’s family from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, August 19, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A funeral service honoring Judy’s life will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, August 20, at the funeral home with The Rev. Aaron R. Payson officiating. Judy will be laid to rest beside her parents at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J.
