STERLING – Norman J. Perry, 84, of Sterling, died peacefully at home under the care of his family on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, following the recent passing of his loving wife of 60 years, Carol A. (Terrasi) Perry.
Norm was born in Waltham, youngest of eight sons born to Walter and Nora (Kain) Perry. With his parents permission, he left high school at the age of 17 and enlisted in the in the Navy to join his brothers serving in World War II. He was proud of his family's service in the armed forces, including his brother Benjamin who was killed in action in Normandy. Norm worked as a machinist/toolmaker for 35 years at Honeywell and enjoyed his family, music, gardening, golf, fly fishing and tying, carving, and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Jeff and Lynne Perry, Debbie and Rich Boutilier, and Kenny and Lisa Perry. He was the proud grandfather of Noelle, Sam, Julia, Lizzie and Mike.
Norm was proud of his Irish heritage and devoted to his Catholic faith. His garden was his joy and no one left his home without a big bag of fresh vegetables. For those of us who watched him struggle through his health adversities, we were forever inspired by his perseverance.
